The Glacierbus in Fjærland takes the passengers that come with the boat, on a roundtrip to The Glaciermuseum, the glacier Bøyabreen (Supphellebreen) and back to the pier in Mundal/ Fjærland. For those who arrive with the morning boat, the bus goes to both glaciers. After returning to the pier in Mundal, there is plenty of time to visit the Booktown, before the boat returns
Most people come to experience its pair of particularly accessible glacial tongues, Supphellebreen and Bøyabreen, but Fjærland is also known as the Book Town of Norway (www.bokbyen.no) – 10 shops in town sell secondhand books, mostly in Norwegian, but some in English and other languages too.

Even during the off-season, there were a handful of open-air bookshelves packed with books… with fjord views directly behind. Though many things were closed when we visited, the weather was sunny with calm waters – the perfect spot for a picnic and to slow things down. About The Norwegian Book Town in Fjærland The Norwegian Book Town in Fjærland started out very modestly in 1995, and now stocks about 2.5 miles of shelving, filled with books, in a variety of abandoned buildings – from ferry waiting rooms, stables and local banks to post office and grocery shop.
The church is from 1861, rebuilt in 1931. It is open to the public. In Mundal you will also find several bookshops, this being the eighth booktown in Europe and the first in Scandinavia since 1996. Most people in Fjærland are engaged in farming. The farms are large and easy to run compared to most farms in Western Norway. This family-run hotel from 1937 is located in Fjærland Village, on the waterfront of the Sognefjord. It offers a large terrace that overlooks the fjord.
